PREPARATION: Photocopy worksheet for every student and bring pens or require students to bring pens to class. Review the three components of fitness.
Cardiovascular, Flexibility, and Strength. Part 1: Teach concepts of overload, progression and specificity. Set up
diverse workout circuit with 2 cards at each station. Students are
identifying components of fitness. Stop class several times to take
heart rate. Part 2: Should allow the class to create a routine that lasts at least 10
minutes and includes all the areas of fitness.
The groups should be 4 people each.
By the end of this lesson, each group should be doing their own
Routine. For the next few lessons, use the routines that each group created for
your warm up portion of the lessons. |

Plan a weekly personal physical fitness program in collaboration with
the teacher.
3.5 Participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity a minimum of 4
days per week.

Identify physical activities that are effective in improving each of the
health-related fitness components.

warm-up, cool-down, principles of exercise for each component of health

Part 1:
Explain that over the next 4 lessons we will be fitness testing, explain
grades are not based upon scores, but on effort. Explain the details of
the pacer test and that it test CV endurance. Part 2: Teach the
class what recovery rate is and how to measure it.
Part 3:
Perform the pacer test in two groups partner 1 and two, first have the
partner read their responsibilities.
Part 4: Fill
in HFZ chart with initial scores, set long term goal for the Pacer and
explain how to calculate short term goals for homework. |

method for measuring upper body strength and endurance.

goals and to read the handball hand-out. |
